Evidence-based treatment tailored to complex presentations, not algorithmic medicine.
Our Psychiatrists
Board-certified psychiatrists with rigorous training and exceptional bedside manner.

Dr. Jonathan Tamaiev is a board-certified psychiatrist and the founder of Highline Psychiatry. He provides comprehensive psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults, with a focus on careful diagnostic evaluation, individualized treatment planning, and thoughtful long-term care.
Dr. Tamaiev earned his medical degree from the Technion Faculty of Medicine, completed his adult psychiatry residency at SUNY Downstate, and completed fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Northwell Long Island Jewish Hospital. He has additional psychodynamic psychotherapy training through NYU’s Psychoanalytic Association of New York and has experience across outpatient, emergency, community, and private practice settings.
Dr. Tamaiev works with a broad range of psychiatric concerns, including anxiety, OCD, ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, emotional dysregulation, psychosis, and complex or treatment-resistant presentations. He is particularly interested in cases where symptoms are nuanced, prior treatment has felt incomplete, or patients and families are looking for a more careful and comprehensive understanding of what is going on.

Dr. Janki Thakkar is a board-certified psychiatrist and fellowship-trained child and adolescent psychiatrist who provides thoughtful, comprehensive care for children, adolescents, and adults. She earned her medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, completed her adult psychiatry residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, and completed fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Northwell Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Dr. Thakkar is known for her warm, collaborative, and careful clinical style. She works with patients across the lifespan, with particular expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry and a special interest in women’s mental health, including psychiatric concerns related to pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, parenting, mood and anxiety disorders, and major life transitions. Her approach integrates psychotherapy-informed care with evidence-based medication management, taking time to understand each patient’s developmental stage, family context, medical history, and personal goals before recommending treatment.

The Highline Approach
If you've been disappointed by rushed appointments, algorithmic treatment, or care that doesn't feel personal, here's why Highline Psychiatry is different.
Why do you only use physician psychiatrists?
At Highline Psychiatry, every patient is seen exclusively by a board-certified physician psychiatrist, never a mid-level provider. MD and DO psychiatrists complete 12+ years of training including medical school, psychiatry residency, and often fellowship training. This depth of medical expertise is essential for complex diagnostic assessments, understanding medication interactions, and treating complicated cases. When psychiatric care requires medical judgment, nuanced differential diagnosis, and management of complex medication regimens, physician-level training is irreplaceable.
Why do you prioritize in-person evaluations?
Why do you see fewer patients than other practices?
Can you see children and adolescents?
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Are you in-network with insurance?
